Greencat è la lettiera vegetale completamente biodegradabile, ovvero non crea rifiuto, e compostabile. È certificata, infatti, OK compost HOME (si tratta di una certificazione europea essenziale per poter compostare un prodotto).
Dunque, puoi smaltirla anche nel compost! Sono sempre di più le persone che decidono di creare un compost casalingo "sfruttando" così i rifiuti di tipo organico. Fare il compost è semplice ma bisogna seguire alcune regole basilari. Ovviamente, meglio non compostare rifiuti come scarti di carne e pesce che attirerebbero animali selvatici. Ed è assolutamente vietato fare il compost con rifiuti e scarti contenenti sostanze chimiche.
Per fare il compost, ti occorre una compostiera (un contenitore apposito). Puoi trovarla tranquillamente nei vivai o anche online. Quando crei il tuo compost, è necessario mettere sul fondo della compostiera uno strato organico che vada a scongiurare il ristagno idrico (ramoscelli) e che sia di almeno 15 cm. Fatto questo, puoi iniziare a gettare nel compost i rifiuti organici. Avendo cura di alternarli ogni tanto con uno strato di foglie secche e di non pressarli eccessivamente (l'aria, infatti, deve circolare). Il compost non deve essere né eccessivamente bagnato, né eccessivamente secco e va rivoltato ogni 2-3 mesi.
Meglio posizionare la compostiera dove arrivano più facilmente i raggi solari. Ed eventualmente creare anche l'effetto serra con un apposito coperchio. Questa accortezza va applicata soprattutto in inverno.

Taking care to alternate them every now and then with a layer of dry leaves and not to press them excessively (the air, in fact, must circulate). The compost must be neither excessively wet nor excessively dry and must be turned every 2-3 months. It is better to place the composter where the sun's rays reach it more easily. And possibly also create the greenhouse effect with a special lid. This precaution should be applied especially in winter.
