Con la primavera, arriva anche il momento della muta del pelo di cani e gatti. Soprattutto per quanto riguarda il gatto, questa fase è da seguire con particolare attenzione. E con molta cura. Sono, infatti, richieste maggiori spazzolate e un'osservazione accurata di ciò che fa micio.
Particolarmente rischioso per i gatti, è il grooming: quando micio si lecca il manto. In questa fase è possibile che i gatti ingurgitino grandi quantità di pelo morto con rischi anche seri per la loro salute.
Dunque, che fare? Sicuramente spazzolare il pelo dei gatti con un'apposita spazzola e con accuratezza. Questa operazione va effettuata tutti i giorni per gli animali a pelo lungo e ogni due giorni circa per gli animali a pelo corto (che, comunque, mutano lo stesso il pelo).
Spazzolare micio è sempre importante ma, in periodo di muta, diventa indispensabile perché appunto evita rischi da ingestione di pelo e anche irritazioni e dermatiti.
Altrettanto fondamentale è assicurarsi di sottoporre il gatto a un'adeguata profilassi antiparassitaria (che dovrebbe protrarsi per tutta la durata dell'anno).

Particularly risky for cats is grooming: when the cat licks its coat. In this phase it is possible that cats swallow large quantities of dead hair with even serious risks for their health. So what to do? Definitely brush the cats' fur with a special brush and with accuracy. This operation must be carried out every day for long-haired animals and approximately every two days for short-haired animals (which, however, shed their hair anyway). Brushing your cat is always important but, during the moulting period, it becomes indispensable because it avoids risks from ingestion of fur and also irritations and dermatitis.
Equally essential is to ensure that the cat is subjected to adequate antiparasitic prophylaxis (which should last throughout the year).
